Kim Thresher is Senior Counsel at Shankman Leone, LA. Her practice focuses on commercial, construction and franchise litigation and transactional matters. With 20 years’ experience, Kim has handled a diverse number of matters while concentrating on corporate and construction law over the last 15 years. She takes pride in aggressively representing her clients and being a fierce advocate for them, whether in Court or drafting various contracts and agreements. She has helped form many companies while providing guidance to bolster the company’s success. Kim also teaches Business Law and Social Responsibility at the University of Tampa.

Prior to joining the firm, Kim had her own practice, as well as working with her family at Thresher & Thresher, P.A. which handled construction law matters. Kim expanded that firm beyond construction law and built a corporate practice representing clients there for almost 11 years. She was also General Counsel for a Tampa start-up company. Kim began her career handling medical malpractice and insurance defense matters after graduating Cum Laude from Stetson College of Law and Florida Southern College.

Kim is passionate about her clients, family and the community. She has served on numerous Boards for local governments, various bar associations, corporations and non-profits. As a strong advocate for education, she has served with honor on the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Board since 2012 where she was Chairwoman from 2017-2019. She strives to embody her favorite quote “be the change you want to see in the world.” When Kim is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.
